What an item value app does

An item value app, sometimes called a price checker or resale value scanner, helps you answer one question quickly: what could this sell for? You photograph an item, the app identifies it, and it shows an estimate based on comparable items on the market. A good one also shows the evidence behind that estimate, so you can judge it yourself instead of trusting a single number.

How to use WorthAI, step by step

  1. Photograph the whole item. Use soft light and a plain background, with nothing cut off. One clear photo is often enough to start.
  2. Check the identification. WorthAI names the likely product, model and variant. If it is unsure about the exact version, it asks for a photo of the label or tag. If the result is wrong, tap Refine Result and the numbers update.
  3. Read the estimate. You see the estimated worth with a range, a suggested asking price and a reading of buyer demand.
  4. Check the evidence. Open the listings behind the estimate and confirm they match your item's model, condition and contents. Active listings show what sellers are asking; sold records, when available, show what buyers paid.
  5. Work out the profit. The profit calculator shows what you would keep after fees and shipping, and the most you should pay if you are buying to resell.
  6. Save it to your Collection. Every scan is saved. Organize items into folders and follow their value over time in the Market tab.
  7. Create a listing. When you are ready to sell, WorthAI can turn your photos into an editable eBay listing draft with a title, item specifics, description and price guidance. Review every detail before you publish. Writing a title yourself? Try the free listing title builder.

What an app cannot do

No photo-based app can test whether something works, see hidden damage or confirm that a valuable item is genuine. Estimates are not guarantees and are not formal appraisals. For fine jewelry, art, rare coins, antiques and high-value designer items, get an expert opinion before you buy or sell. Treat any app result as an informed starting point, then confirm the details yourself.

Languages, currencies and plans

WorthAI is available on iPhone and Android in 13 languages and shows values in 159 currencies, so you can research in your own currency. It offers Pro and Max plans, billed weekly or yearly. Current prices are shown in the app and on the App Store and Google Play.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an app that tells you what something is worth?

Yes. Item value apps such as WorthAI identify an item from a photo and show an estimated resale value with a range. Check the listings behind the estimate before relying on it.

How accurate are item value apps?

It depends on how clearly the item is identified and how much comparable evidence exists. Clear photos of the whole item and its label help. Always check that the comparison listings match your item.

Can an item value app replace an appraisal?

No. An app estimate is a research tool. For insurance, estates, fine jewelry, art and rare collectibles, use a qualified appraiser.

Can WorthAI help me sell an item?

Yes. After a scan, WorthAI can create an editable eBay listing draft from your photos, with a title, item specifics, description and price guidance for you to review.
